So, how are you sleeping this week?

how are you sleeping

Two weekends ago you were shown how to create a restorative sleep routine. If your efforts have paid off, you are spending more quality time with yourself during your wind down time. You are sleeping more AND you are waking feeling rested and refreshed.

These efforts will trickle down into the rest of your daily habits. You will have steadier energy across the day, crave less sugar, you’ll be in a better place to make healthier decisions, whether with your food or with your fitness activities.

This is why I always say that sleep is THE foundation of health. If you aren’t sleeping well, all the work that you are doing with your eating will simply not stick.

If your habits and intentions of slipped, now is the time to regroup and reset your goals, with the understanding that sometimes the very best of intentions seem to take second stage. Most of us know that there are external sources of stress that we can be affected by. Lack of sleep is an internal stress that you have control over. Lack of sleep creates a stress state in the body that affects nearly every pathway in the body while it is awake – how you metabolize, how you digest, your ability to lose weight, if you can satisfy your appetite, if you crave food and yes, even your sex drive.

Whether You are On Track or Off Track With Your Sleep Routine, Here Are Your Goals This Evening:

  • Reevaluate your sleep routine and timing: Make sure that you are allowing yourself sufficient wind down time (at least an hour) prior to your asleep time
  • Set a reoccurring reminder that goes off each Sunday evening: this will alert you that your wind down time is approaching AND this will help you start the week with the right amount of sleep.
  • Kick off each week with a healthy habit, by regrouping with your sleep routine on Sunday night!
